Quarry Lake: A Tiny Lake With Epic Scenery and Beautiful Reflections

Search, search, search, and you will find it — “Easy Hikes Near Canmore with Beautiful Views” inspired me to drive to this tiny lake with epic views on my 71st birthday! As I arrived at the parking lot, I was deeply moved by a poem that a dear friend had sent me, further enhancing the beauty of the moment:
Malik, a young man was he
who was retired and roaming free.
his passion, Simerg
his parents, his erg
coffee, bagel, croissant, no tea
in driving and nature he shot
Simerg photos, barakah , the lot
in Calgary he found
his feet on the ground
on horse Mazda, these photos he caught
Nurin his daughter was she
he anointed her with his dance, in glee
the apple of his eye
a dad with a smile
a vet, proud to share gladly
Aug 5, celebration of Malik’s birth!
his life an endeavor in mirth
providing seva with passion
creative journalist, a mission
his articles on Simerg, researched
its your day today Malik
happy birthday to you, at your peak
a grand day in life, enjoy!
a very happy day, young boy
amazing joys, your interests pique!
Happy Birthday!🎉👏

have a wonderful day
Deservedly, she was the first person I shared one of the photos of my first view of the lake via my iPhone. But I will never forget my beloved family members, friends, and readers who follow my travel posts. I am deeply grateful for your support and I hope you enjoy this small collection of beautiful photos. And I must mention the blue heron who greeted me with Happy Birthday from across the lake and only took flight when I got very close to her on the last section of my walk!
The memorial bench tributes that I read and re-read during my walk around Quarry Lake were not just overpowering, but deeply moving and inspirational. It was a birthday filled with reflections for the sight, mind, and spirit.
