The Bellerive Room at the Aga Khan Museum

During my frequent walks at Aga Khan Park, I often step into the Aga Khan Museum to have a cup of chai and samosas or one of the many varieties of baklava in the museum’s cafetaria. The beautiful Bellerive Room is just round the corner and I make it a point to step into the room and sit for a few moments in contemplation, while viewing the beautiful ceramics displayed around me. The camera is always at hand, and I am pleased to share a few photographs from the collection of the Late Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, uncle of Mawlana Hazar Imam, and Princess Catherine Aga Khan.
The Bellerive Room is a recreation of the “La Chambre Persane,” or “Persian Salon,” in their home, Chateau de Bellerive in Geneva, Switzerland, where part of the collection was originally on display. There are approximately 60 ceramic objects on view in the Bellerive room.
Many readers may not be aware that visitors don’t have to pay the museum’s entrance fees if they are only there for a chai, want to relax in the courtyard or visit the Bellerive Room. So when you are on your walk, invite yourself into the museum with your Covid-19 vaccination proof, and see these beautiful spaces that I have mentioned, as well as request to see beautiful blue spiral staircase located outside the auditorium — in itself is a must see (see last photo in this post).

One of the plates in this amazing collection is from which the logo of the Aga Khan Museum was inspired. Alhamdulillah!
