The White House is a serious place, where important legislative matters affecting the USA are handled on a daily basis. Amidst all the complex and tense situations which arise from a multitude of crisis or difficult decisions that President Barack Obama and his team of advisers have to deal with, we might often not see the human element – that of trust, engagement, concern, motivation and fun – that is so much a special part of President Barack Obama as well as his wife, America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama.

No one, in my opinion, presents President Obama’s charm and humility with more clarity than the team of photographers at the White House, led by Pete Souza. I have been following Souza’s photographs for some time, and I can say they are truly enchanting, inspiring and touching. Souza’s photos brings out the best of the President, his family and all those who surround him and visit him at the White House, as well as those around the USA and the world who get to meet the President, often in unusual and unexpected situations.

Jan. 21, 2009 “This was his first morning in the Oval Office as President of the United States. He was reading some briefing material before a meeting.”
With him being re-elected last week, I felt it appropriate to pay a tribute to President Barack Obama who, like me, has deep attachments to Eastern Africa. Moreover, Canada, my beloved home for the past three decades was the first country President Obama decided to visit following his 2009 inauguration. I may add further and with some pride that my ‘first’ home in North America was at Salt Lake City, Utah, the spiritual centre of the Mormon faith. I have since 1979 deeply admired America and its people.

Beautiful collection that shows how down to earth President Obama is. He will do a lot for the working class, if only Republican can allow him without blocking every agenda.
