Introduced by Abdulmalik Merchant

The Luzhniki Sports Arena became the venue on December 11, 2016, for the Ismail community in Moscow to gather for a special concert to celebrate the 80th birthday of Mawlana Hazar Imam, His Highness the Aga Khan, 49th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims. The content of the four-and-half-hour program included cultural dances, songs by Ismaili children, youth and elders of the jamat as well as Ismaili pop-stars, numerous religious readings and a play. We offer our congratulations to members of the Moscow and Central Asian jamats  for this extraordinary and inspiring performance in front of a captive and receptive audience. While various segments in the program offered great tributes to Hazar Imam through back drop images and touching sentiments and expressions of words, one could at the same time feel the performers’ profound love and affection for their beloved 49th Imam in every single item that they presented.

We present on this page segments that were presented by young children and the youth of the jamat. We also have a link to the highly popular song “Ya Ali Madad,” which Canadian Ismailis first heard during the late 1990’s, when a group of Ismaili artists from the Pamirs in Gorno-Badakhshan visited Canada, and performed in front of capacity audiences across the country.
